The Sun Ra Arkestra made its second consequitive Halloween season appearance in Washington, DC on Octber 30, 2015 at Liv (the space upstairs from the now defunct Bohemian Caverns). 91 year old Marshall Allen led the Arkestra in his usual fine fashion. In keeping with the season, Danny Thompson portrayed the bebop vampire, ala Philly Joe Jones.
Along Came Ra... the Heliocentric Halloween Festival in DC in 2014 was 3-day celebration of all things Sun Ra. The Sun Ra Arkestra concert Halloween night was terrific, the street parade was great, and Januwa Moja's fashion show with the Arkestra jamming Space Is The Place while the ladies strutted across the stage was special. My photos were be exhibited at the Pop-Up Museum, where Marshall Allen, Danny Thompson, Januwa, and Bill Warrell delivered the artist's talk, moderated by Dr. Thomas Stanley.

The Historical Society of Washington's Spring 2014-Volume 26 publication is a special issue Jazz In Washington, which contains a number of my photographs. Some of these can be seen in my DC Jazz Gallery. More information and a link for purchase is available at the Historical Society's web site.
TRIO AND DUO IN NEW ORLEANS
Kidd Jordan / Alvin Fielder / Peter Kowald

Interinfinity, CD by Joel Futterman and Alvin Fielder Duo This music was recorded June 26, 2013 in Washington, DC. Marc Medwin wrote, "Rising from crystalline whispers to title waves of tone, timbre and rhythm, this is music born of the power that only instant communication and listening on the deepest level can foster."
I provided the photos, design and did the graphic layout for the CD package.

I did the photo, oil pastel, and layout for Joel Futterman's new CD Remembering Dolphy, piano solo explorations of the music of Eric Dolphy. Nothing like this has ever been done before! I provided the layout and photo montages for Byron Morris' new CD Unity, A Retrospective. The music is a collection of recordings that Unity made during the late '70s and early '80s. Listen to the music samples at the site.
